Which challenges e opportunities did you encounter during the development of this project?

"The interior design intervention for this pastry shop and gelateria, located in an exceptional position between Via Cavour and the monumental area of the Colosseum, is based on a dialectical dialogue with the architectural stratification of Rome’s historic center. The project goes beyond a simple stylistic reference, developing instead a contemporary reinterpretation of Roman Baroque, intended as an aesthetic language of wonder and spatial dynamism.

The interior space is conceived to reflect the opulence and theatricality typical of seventeenth-century Rome, reinterpreted through a rigorous and technical material selection.

Within this framework, the “new Baroque” becomes not a decorative exercise, but a careful orchestration of voids and light: an immersive experience where the historical density of Via Cavour meets the fluidity of contemporary design.

The result is a commercial architecture project that transforms the act of consumption into a moment of aesthetic contemplation, celebrating the continuity of Roman beauty through the formal innovation of materials and lighting technologies."

The choice of La Lollona

"The core of this reinterpretation project lies in the lighting design, where the choice of Slamp’s La Lollona by Lorenza Bozzoli takes on a fundamental architectural role. While its silhouette recalls the archetypal image of the Baroque chandelier, the suspension overturns this perception through the use of metallized technopolymers and lightweight geometries.

Lollona acts as a connecting element between the solemnity of the exterior architecture and the contemporary character of the space, projecting light that fragments and multiplies the environment in harmony with the reflective surfaces and chiaroscuro contrasts of the interior. "

How important is light in defining a public or domestic space?

"Light plays a fundamental role in defining the perception and atmosphere of both public and domestic spaces. In this project, La Lollona becomes a connecting element between the solemnity of the exterior architecture and the modernity of the interior experience, projecting light that fragments and multiplies the space in harmony with the reflective surfaces and chiaroscuro contrasts of the environment."
