MATERIALS AND DESIGN
Slamp uses technopolymers, but what are they?
Technopolymers are high-performance polymers, stronger and more durable than ordinary plastics, commonly used in technical and industrial sectors.
The ones selected by Slamp are lightweight, flexible, unbreakable, heat-resistant, and diffuse light evenly without losing their properties over time. Each has specific features developed to meet product needs (UV resistance, greater flexibility, etc.), with effects and finishes carefully studied by the company’s research and development department. Find out more here.
The lamp is not exactly the same as the one in the picture, is that normal?
The creation process of every Slamp lamp is entirely handcrafted in the brand’s creative light atelier, just outside Rome. Here, the “Sarte della Luce”, highly skilled artisans, shape the materials through a unique system of joints and manual folds, transforming them into true luminous sculptures.
Slight differences between one product and another are not imperfections, but rather the result of the tailor-made process that makes each lamp unique and unrepeatable. Printing and finishing phases may also present minor variations, always within a carefully defined tolerance range.
How do you clean Slamp lamps?
The surfaces of our lamps are very easy to clean with a dust-catching cloth or a soft cloth slightly dampened with water; alternatively, you can use an anti-static spray. It is essential to avoid the use of acetone, alcohol, trichloroethylene, ammonia, or any product containing even small amounts of these substances. Avoid powdered cleaners, abrasive pastes, and cleaning tools with rough surfaces such as steel wool or abrasive sponges.
INSTALLATION
Do I need an electrician to install the lamp, or can I do it myself?
Slamp lamps are designed for easy installation: suspensions and ceiling lights use systems such as magnetic fittings, cables can be adjusted even after mounting, and products – even large ones – are shipped already semi-assembled. Thanks to the lightness of Slamp’s materials, there is no need for special ceiling reinforcements.
For the electrical connection, we recommend contacting a qualified electrician, especially to ensure safe installation that complies with national regulations. This is even more important for products with integrated LED, where it is essential to know the existing system and choose the right dimming option at the time of order, ensuring the lamp functions correctly. Every product comes with detailed instructions containing all the information necessary for a safe and optimal installation.
Can a Slamp lamp be installed on sloped ceilings or exposed beams?
Yes, absolutely. Slamp suspensions are designed to adapt to sloped ceilings or exposed beams. Thanks to ceiling canopies and fixing kits, each cable can be adjusted individually in length, allowing the lamp to be leveled for a balanced and harmonious installation in any space. It is important to use anchors and screws suitable for the type of surface (concrete, plasterboard, wood, etc.) to ensure a secure and long-lasting installation. For ceiling lamps, Slamp supports guarantee a firm fit against the ceiling, ensuring stable mounting even with slight surface irregularities.
Is the magnetic fitting safe?
The pull-force of the magnets is calculated to support four times the lamp’s weight, with a wide safety margin. This takes into account not only static weight but also potential stresses caused by vibrations, impacts, or inclinations.
For larger or heavier lamps, the magnetic fitting is always reinforced with safety hooks or cables, ensuring additional support and maximum security during installation and use.
Can Slamp lamps be installed in humid environments (e.g., bathrooms)?
All Slamp indoor lamps have an IP20 protection rating, meaning they are not designed to withstand water splashes or direct jets. However, they can be installed in bathrooms or humid areas if some simple safety rules are followed:
By following these guidelines, Slamp products can be installed in humid environments safely. The same care applies to portable battery lamps: we recommend using them outdoors only when needed and not leaving them exposed for long periods, protecting them from moisture and extending their lifespan.
LIGHTING AND DIMMING
What type of bulbs can I use?
In models with a socket (e.g., E27, E14), you can use LED or LED filament bulbs compatible with the specified fitting.
The suggested wattage is designed to ensure the best balance between light performance and the lamp’s aesthetics, and should not be considered the maximum wattage the product can handle. Where explicitly indicated, please follow the recommended dimensions and diameter.
Does the lamp work with smart bulbs compatible with Alexa/Google Home?
Yes, if the lamp has a standard socket (such as E27, E14, or G9), you can use smart bulbs compatible with home automation systems like Alexa or Google Home. In this case, it’s the bulb itself that provides the smart functions.
Are Slamp lamps dimmable?
Yes, most Slamp lamps are dimmable, with some specifications: in models marked as “dimmable,” the electrical system must support light intensity adjustment. For integrated LED versions, it is essential to check compatibility between the dimming system (standard or Slamp accessory) and the existing installation. For socket-based products, dimming is only possible with dimmable bulbs. Floor and battery-operated lamps already feature an integrated dimmer, allowing autonomous light regulation.
How do I know which dimming system to choose for a Slamp product with integrated LED?
For Slamp products with integrated LEDs, the choice of dimming system depends on your existing electrical installation. For this reason, we always recommend consulting a qualified electrician to ensure compliance and select the most suitable technology.
Every lamp comes with detailed instructions, but here’s an overview of the main systems available (depending on the model):
The choice of system depends on your electrical setup and how you want to use the lamp. Knowing your configuration is key to ensuring optimal performance and maximizing the lamp’s potential.
DEFECTS AND WARRANTY
What happens if a part of the product breaks or is defective? Can I get spare parts?
If the integrated LED runs out, can it be replaced?
In Slamp lamps with integrated LEDs, the module cannot be replaced, except for some collections such as Tulip, Poppy, Étoile/La Belle Étoile, and battery-powered versions, which feature interchangeable components. However, our LEDs are designed to last up to 50,000 hours, ensuring minimal maintenance and maximum reliability — that’s about 2,083 full days, or more than 5 and a half years of continuous light. Integrated LED products, like all Slamp lamps, are covered by a 2-year warranty, guaranteeing quality and durability.
