What challenges and opportunities did you encounter during the development of this project?

The Nemo Ristorante Food & Wine project, designed by the Salerno-based architecture and engineering studio DE Rosa Giovanni e Antonio Luca, represented a compelling challenge from multiple perspectives. One of the key objectives was to balance the restaurant’s contemporary and refined identity with the need to integrate harmoniously into the urban context of Salerno, a city deeply rooted in history and tradition.

The design process focused on developing a concept capable of conveying elegance, hospitality and innovation, while enhancing the existing architectural features of the space. A significant asset of the project was the opportunity to collaborate with highly qualified professionals such as geom. Giuseppe Tarallo and eng. Domenico Puglia, whose contribution and shared expertise created a strong synergy that proved essential to the successful outcome of the project.

How did you get to know Slamp and why did you choose our lighting solutions?

We have known Slamp for a long time, as it represents a true benchmark in the design lighting industry. What has always stood out to us is the brand’s ability to combine aesthetic vision, technological research and craftsmanship, creating products that can be described as genuine luminous sculptures.

We chose Slamp lighting for Nemo Ristorante because it perfectly reflects the project’s concept: a balance between modernity, atmosphere and strong character. The lighting fixtures have become iconic elements within the space, playing a key role in shaping the overall sensory experience for guests.

How important is light in defining a public or domestic space?

Light is a fundamental design element, often as important as materials or spatial layout in interior and architectural design. In a restaurant environment, lighting plays a key role in creating atmosphere, guiding circulation, enhancing architectural details and delivering a comfortable and memorable dining experience.

In residential spaces, light takes on an even more intimate function, becoming an essential part of everyday living and contributing to visual comfort, psychological well-being and quality of life. In both public and domestic contexts, lighting is not merely a technical requirement, but a true design language that, when carefully applied, defines the identity and overall quality of a space.
