The processing of Slamp’s technopolymer sheets involves two different types of cutting, depending on the characteristics of the material itself and the complexity of the design to be realized.
All industrial processing methods are completely cold and do not release harmful substances, but only in 20% of cases, water vapor.
One of the first technologies used since the company’s inception is die cutting, which is done by hand with wooden support and titanium blades. This technology is used for shaping low-thickness technopolymer sheets with smaller dimensions. The die-cutting operator, with a swift motion, inserts the sheet to be cut and retrieves the already cut one, resembling a hypnotic dance to watch. For more complex patterns and thicker materials, the cutting method used is computer numerical control (CNC cutting).
To meet the need for homogeneous lighting even in the presence of point light sources such as LEDs, Slamp has developed a system to fluidify light based on the Fresnel effect of lenticular material.
This gave birth to Lentiflex®, whose surface,when viewed under a microscope, appearsto be composed of many prisms capable of capturing and directing light towards a precise point.
Slamp studies the inclination of Lentiflex® sheets, which, when combined with the play of light, create ever-changing effects.
Opalflex® is the very first material ever used by Slamp, and it is chosen with a particular emphasis on flexibility, unbreakability, and heat resistance.
One of its great characteristics is the ability to maintain its properties over time without deteriorating or changing in appearance. Its ability to evenly diffuse light makes it particularly brilliant and perfect for backlighting.
This material is suitable for both printing processes with non-toxic inks and for being colored in paste, allowing for the creation of trendy and cool designs without altering the color temperature of the light sources.
Brilliant and transparent like crystal, yet lightweight, unbreakable, and flexible like polycarbonate, Cristalflex® is a technopolymer that gives products the allure and preciousness of glass while offering a lamp that is easily transportable and manageable in both domestic and contract settings.
During the technopolymer research and development process, a smoked finish has also been developed, which imparts a very subtle chromatic tendency towards taupe gray while remaining absolutely transparent.
Due to its unique characteristics, Cristalflex® is also one of the materials chosen for creating metallic finishes. Cristalflex® is also perfect for printing processes with nontoxic inks certified by Greenguard in the Indoor Air Quality category.
In 2023, Slamp introduced a new metallization method that offers endless decorative possibilities: the application of a dual-sided gold foil on Slamp’s technopolymer.
This foil, applied cold to the material, not only provides the brilliance of metallization to the surface but also a tactile quality perceptible through the thickness of the gold application, achieving an effect that cannot be reproduced with paints and prints.
In the craquelet and brushed texture, light filters through the decorative pattern, enhancing its brightness, emphasizing shapes and creating a highly decorative warm pattern.
All raw materials used by Slamp (from technopolymers to packaging cardboard) are used in compliance with international environmental protection regulations and meet the main international electrical safety standards.
