Bespoke Design

The main challenge was to design a lighting object that would not simply illuminate a space, but generate spatial identity through light.

The project asked for a vertical volume a transitional zone with limited width and height and we needed to give it presence, rhythm and depth without adding mass.

This led us to explore modularity, transparency, and repetition as tools to articulate the space. The opportunity came precisely from this constraint: by layering vertical bespoke Slamp's Technopolymer tubes and controlling their suspension heights, we were able to define a permeable luminous membrane not just an object, but a spatial device.

Moreover, the reflective surfaces in the environment multiplied the luminous elements, enhancing the perception of scale and rhythm. This gave us the confidence to develop the object further, beyond its original context, and turn it into a customizable product.

Choosing Slamp

We have been aware of Slamp for years your work sits at a rare intersection between expressive design and architectural application, which we truly appreciate.

Slamp pieces manage to be sculptural yet rigorous, emotional yet controlled.

In our broader lighting palette, Slamp lamps offered a counterpoint to our own custom design: where our suspended structure was about rhythm and repetition, Slamp pieces brought softness, organic geometry, and a different luminous quality.

It was important for us to create contrast and complementarity and Slamp was a natural choice for that role.

How important is the light in a public or domestic space?

Light is not secondary to space it reveals, modulates, and often defines it.

For us, light is an architectural material as relevant as concrete, wood or metal. In both public and domestic contexts, it shapes perception, mood, orientation and intimacy.

A public space might require layers of light that guide, attract or isolate, while a domestic one needs warmth, nuance and adaptability.

In both cases, light gives rhythm to how we inhabit space. That’s why we approach every lighting decision not as a fixture, but as a spatial gesture.
