Marc Sadler’s hand molded bloom, Slamp’s Style Department’s floor lamp, and Miguel Arruda’s luminous, modular “ceiling” have all received a European Product Design Award 2021, highlighting the efforts of talented designers and design teams who aim to improve our daily lives with a practical and beautiful creation, designed to solve a problem, make life easier or simply spread joy.
Let’s get to know them:
ACCORDÉON TABLE – design by Marc Sadler
The Accordéon collection represents a new narrative in contemporary design: Slamp’s exclusive Lentiflex® material is heated and hand moulded by the women who tailor light. Every piece is one of a kind, but the lamps are identical. The lamp has dual switches, one for the shade and another for the base. Both light sources can be used together, and cast a uniform glow and a cotton-like silhouette
HUGO FLOOR – design by Slamp Creative Department
Solid, yet fluid: the magical effect is created with an invisible steel frame hidden under layers of Slamp’s innovative Lentiflex®, a material that liquifies LED illumination. The light is transformed into a soft, uniform, almost weightless, floating glow. The design and bend of the floor lamp were inspired by the outreached hands of Michelangelo’s “Last Judgement” in the Sistine Chapel.
NUVEM – design by Miguel Arruda
The modular system started from the symbology Miguel Arruda applied to a
sculpture in 1980; Slamp’s R&D team transformed it, creating folded and jointed, meter-long hexagonal sections to be infinitely combined, filling a space with floating landscapes. Nuvem is a “ceiling”, illuminated by bidirectional spotlights (GU10).
